In the late 1970’s, the city engineer of Lancaster, Ohio became a
Christian. His name, Val Roxby. After a short time,
he decided to become a Gospel Preacher. He and his
wife Kathy and 4 children were on their way to
Freed-Hardeman University. They were in separate
vehicles and his wife was in a serious auto accident
and she lost her life. Val continued his efforts to
study Preaching and is now a Gospel preacher in
Barnesville, Ohio.
A small financial award from the insurance company was given to Val
because of the accident and he gave it to the
Lancaster Church. The guidelines for its’ use were:
only the interest is to be given for a
student/member of this congregation. The applicant
must be enrolled in a Christian college and maintain
a B or better grade average.
Any member who meets the requirements should request the
scholarship from one of the elders. If there are 2
or more students who qualify, the interest will be
divided among them.
